Introduction
Iran Financial Center is a unique organization and an influential voice in the Iranian capital market in terms of education and research. Established on June 25, 2008, the IFC has been in the business of training and developing capital market participants in Iran. It designs and facilities training programs for regulators, company directors, and market professionals as well as conducts educational seminars and workshops. The IFC’S objective is to raise professional standards and enhance the skills of capital market participants. The IFC develops the Iranian capital market to be efficient, innovative, and internationally competitive.
Background
Approval of the Securities Market Act of the Islamic Republic of Iran in December 2004 by the Parliament began a new era in Iran's capital market.
Segregation of the supervisory authority from the executive body served to great changes in the macro structure of the Iranian capital market including structural changes of the commodity and securities stock markets and turning these two stock exchanges into public companies, formation of another two exchanges i.e. Iran FaraBourse and the energy exchange and establishment of dozens of new financial institutions. These changes raised the need for more technical education and training with a focus on research throughout the capital market.
In the meantime, the lack of reliable and specialized institutions emphasized the need to pay more attention to the development of investment culture and specialization of capital market activities and processes. All these caused the need to create a structure to plan and implement educational and research programs and create synergy in the country's stock exchanges.
Hence, based on previous successful experiences in the Iranian and foreign stock markets, Iran Financial Center commenced work by bringing about a number of changes including revising its shareholding structure i.e. transferring 80% of the shares of the Tehran Stock Exchange to Iran Commodity Exchange, Iran FaraBourse, Energy Exchange and Central Securities Depository of Iran in March 2014.
The main activities of IFC are providing educational, research, financial, and consulting services on the issues related to money and capital markets.
