CSDI Leads FEAS Working Group Meeting on "CSDs, Pre- and Post-Trade"

Central Securities Depository of Iran leads the first "CSDs, Pre- and Posts-trade" Working Group (WG) Meeting.

Today, July April 23th 2024, Central Securities Depository of Iran led the first "CSDs, Pre- and Posts-trade" Working Group (WG) Meeting online.

In the opening of the Meeting, CSDI International Relations Director, Siavash Azimi, addressed and welcomed the participants. He also expressed gratitude to the host, the Federation of the Eurasian Stock Exchanges (FEAS), for their dynamism and for organizing the meeting.

The Working Group Meeting aims to enhance cooperation and development of FEAS member’s capital markets through improved connectivity, growth, and harmonization in pre-trade and post-trade processes, with a specific focus on Central Securities Depositories (CSDs).

Azimi called on the participants to prepare the necessary steps to materialize the objectives of the WG within existing or new programs.

He enumerated publishing an enhanced version of "FEAS Depository Bulletin", holding virtual topic-centric workshops, organizing micro seminars on the sidelines of the main events, inviting renowned figures and thought leaders from the CSD industry for lectures, organizing CSD technology showcase events, facilitating joint research projects and recognizing accomplishments and innovations among member CSDs as among the Working Group's activities and initiatives to be followed.

During the WG meeting, the CSDI IR director also discussed the key areas of focus of the new working team i.e. best practices, standardizing protocols and activities, new technologies, risk management, etc.

Central Securities Depository of Iran proposed the initiative to create a formulated Working Group on CSD-related activities among member organizations to the 35th FEAS General Assembly meeting.

The Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges is the coordinating body for the key capital market players of member countries in Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Asia and the Middle East.

The FEAS is a non-profit organization headquartered in Yerevan, Armenia.

It was established on May16, 1995 with 12 founding members.

The FEAS aims to create fair, efficient and transparent market environments, with little barriers to trade between its members and their operating regions.

Additionally, the Federation promotes the development of member markets, and provides cross listing and trading opportunities for securities issued within member countries.

Currently there are 40 members in the Federation: 20 full, 11 affiliate and 9 observers, 5 partners including post trade institutions, dealers associations and regional federations from 29 countries.

Central Securities Depository of Iran joined the FEAS in 2006. The CSDI served as a member to the FEAS Executive Board for two consecutive terms. The CSDI is currently an Audit Committee member at the Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges.
