Central Securities Depository Of IRAN

Delegates from Central Securities Depository of Iran (CSDI) actively contributed to the discussions at the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD) Annual Training Seminar in Almaty, Kazakhstan with lectures on electronic services to the heirs of the deceased shareholders, CSD tax functions and IT architecture of CSDs.

The seminar was organized by Central Securities Depository JSC (KCSD) and AECSD Secretariat on November 14-16, 2023.

Main topics of the seminar included IT architecture, business continuity management of the central securities depositories, ensuring access to local capital markets and tax functions of central securities depositories.

The seminar opened with welcoming remarks of Dr. Ekrem Arikan, Chairman of AECSD and CEO & Board Member of Merkezi Kayit Kurulusu A.S. (MKK), and Adil Mukhamejanov, Chairman of KCSD’s Management Board, and Arman Melkumyan, Secretary General of AECSD.

The seminar was attended by more than 120 people, among whom 20 offline participants and more than 100 participants attended the seminar in online format, including representatives of countries not among the AECSD members, such as Jordan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Indonesia, Nepal and others. Twenty-four speakers made presentations at the event.

The training seminar for the central securities depositories of AECSD consisted of four presentation sessions, each of which was devoted to a specific topic.

The seminar opened by a session dedicated to the topic "IT architecture of central securities depositories: in-house development vs. box solution." Seven speakers delivered speeches at the first session including CSDI International Relations Director & Corporate Secretary, Siavash Azimi and Senior Advisor of CEO Hossein Mohammadi.

The next session was about "CSD business continuity management."

The speakers of the presentation session "Local capital markets access."

CSDI Commodity Market Settlement Director, Ali Roostaei, made presentation at the final session "CSD Tax Functions".

In addition to the stated topics, the participants of the seminar were very interested in discussing the latest news, implemented projects and technologies.

At the end of the event, Yedil Medeu, the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of KCSD, Chairman of WFC, made a closing speech. In his speech, he noted that the seminar was very eventful and interesting, covering a wide range of relevant topics.

On the sidelines of the event, the participants of the seminar took part in the international exchange forum "The role of exchanges in the transformation of financial markets", dedicated to the 30^th anniversary of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange JSC, which took place on November 16 this year.

Central Securities Depository of Iran joined the AECSD.

The AECSD’s mission is to provide a platform for sharing ideas for development and enhancement of depository operations, creating a common depository space, and integrating the AECSD’s CSD members into the global securities settlement system.
